Through simulated business situations, Level 1 tests a candidate’s basic understanding of the ways in which a modern office operates and the various support services it provides. Building on the syllabus of Level 1, Level 2 also encompasses equipment and material, procedures and information, services and supplies and communication. Level 3 is intended for those who wish to develop their skills gained from previous levels.
Business Practice Levels 2 and 3
Level 2 aims to develop a broad knowledge of the business world, to identify the main functions of business activity and to develop an understanding of the individual’s contribution. Level 3 requires identification of the influences on a business organization and what the success factors might be, and to highlight the contribution the individual can make to organizational success.
Meetings Unit 1 Administering Meetings Level 2
Covers administering meetings, roles and venues. You should possess a standard of English equivalent to LCCIEB English for Business Level 2.
Meetings Unit 1 Understanding Meetings Level 3
Covers types of meetings, protocol and roles within meetings. You should possess a standard of English equivalent to LCCIEB English for Business Level 3.
Meetings Unit 2 Recording Meetings
This practical unit assesses the candidate’s ability to take notes from the recording of the meeting.
Business and Industrial Administration Level 3
Assesses a candidate’s understanding of administration in the business world. It looks at all aspects of business organization, including functions such as marketing, finance and personnel.
Principles and Practice of Management Level 3
For candidates pursuing a career in management, this qualification tests knowledge of the principles, processes and practices of management and their application within an organization.
The Legal Environment Level 4
Aims to develop understanding of the principles of laws relating to business and laws regulating professional practice, and the legal implications of problems faced by business organizations.
Audio Transcription Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4
Level 1 tests the ability to transcribe documents from pre-recorded audio dictation to a mailable business standard. Requires a production speed of 25 wpm; the paper comprises around 600 words. Level 2 requires a production speed of 35 wpm and the paper comprises approximately 725 words. Level 3 requires a production speed of 40–50 wpm and the paper comprises approximately 875 words. Level 4 requires a production speed of 55 wpm and the paper comprises approximately 1250 words.

Level 2 requires accurate keyboarding at 35 wpm and the paper comprises approximately 775 words. Level 3 requires accurate keyboarding at 45–50 wpm and the paper comprises approximately 950 words.
