Tests candidates’ knowledge and understanding of the basic principles underlying the recording of business transactions through the use of the double-entry book-keeping system. Candidates are also tested on preparation of accounts for sole traders and non-trading organizations.
Book-keeping and Accounts Level 2
Tests practical knowledge of final accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies and non-trading organizations as well as branch, departmental and manufacturing accounts.
Accounting (IAS) Levels 3 and 4
Level 3 is an advanced examination requiring a thorough grasp of the entire accounting process, Level 3 Accounting also expects candidates to understand, interpret and use accounting information to measure business performance and to evaluate the impact of the application of accounting techniques. Level 4 requires a high standard of the financial accounting process, the examination expects candidates to prepare financial accounting statements with relevant accounting standards and accepted accounting principles, including statements arising from company reconstructions and amalgamations.
Cost Accounting Levels 2 and 3
Level 2 deals with basic cost accounting terminology and techniques. A variety of costing methods are covered along with standard costing techniques and budgetary control. Building on Level 2, the exam at Level 3 tests more advanced cost accounting principles, methods and terminology including the application of budgetary control and various accounting systems.
Management Accounting Level 3
Ideal for using accounting methods in a managerial role, this tests understanding of short-term cost behavior and use of accounting information in the decision-making process.
Commercial Calculations Level 1
This examination is tests a candidate’s ability to solve, quickly and accurately, those arithmetic calculations which are likely to be encountered in domestic and commercial and industrial life.
Business Statistics Levels 2 and 3
Level 2 tests the candidate’s understanding of the nature, sources, tabulation and evaluation of business data, including graphical methods and charts. Building on the syllabus of Level 2, this award examines advanced techniques of applying statistical methods in the business environment.
Business Calculations Level 2
Focuses on fairly complex problem solving within the context of business applications. Topics include simple and compound interest, wages and commission, foreign currencies and averages.
Advanced Business Calculations Level 3
The most comprehensive test of a candidate’s ability to solve a variety of problems associated with all financial aspects of business.
